NEWS RELEASE

(99-2)

Dunka Road Project Renamed "NorthMet"

PolyMet Mining Corporation has renamed its Dunka Road Project. The new name of PolyMet's project is "NorthMet". The name
reflects NorthMet's northern Minnesota location, as well as its relationship to PolyMet. At the same time, it reflects PolyMet's new,
aggressive approach toward developing this well known and potentially very valuable deposit. The NorthMet deposit is PolyMet's
primary asset and the single focus of the Corporation's multi-year, multi-million dollar development efforts. PolyMet is a publicly
traded company, headquartered in Golden, Colorado.

The NorthMet Project is focused on further delineating a valuable polymetallic deposit. The deposit contains significant, mineable
amounts of copper, nickel, cobalt, gold, silver, platinum, and palladium. The mineable resource is estimated at more than 800 million
metric tons. The total mineral resource is much larger, approaching an estimated 1.45 billion metric tons. The value of metals
contained in the mineable resource is almost US$15 billion at current metals prices, while the total resource value is estimated at
more than $30 billion.

An important drilling program, concluded in late 1998 at the NorthMet site, yielded drill cuttings used recently in a successful
26-ton pilot plant test program. Mineral recoveries were substantially better than recoveries achieved by other companies over the
last two decades. The production of bulk concentrate in a pilot plant setting further signals the potential of the deposit to ultimately
become economically viable. The bulk concentrate is now being subjected to two different metallurgical processing technologies:
pressure oxidation and bioleaching. Results from these tests should become available during the next six months.
