Put one of my new USB Zip drives through the paces today. The results are that it "feels" as fast as an IDE Zip. The USB interface is literally an order of magnitude (and then some) better than parallel. I also have an USB LS-120 and it is no faster than the parallel port version.

Result: USB Zip is great and I highly recommend it, though you MUST have Windows 98 to run it (on a PC...came with an extra free Mac disk and was only 97.50 from buy.com). Simple to install, very fast and you can see its guts through the translucent blue cover.

In terms of speed I was measuring up to 37 MB/min in sustained copy operations (faster read than write)
