I did just a quick research on your inquiry. It looks as if CPQ is replacing Iomega Zip drives with Imation's Superdisk technology. These drives hold 120 M floppies as well as the current 1.44 M floppies. While I can't say that I have any first hand knowledge of these drives, I can say that I have experience with IOM zip drives. I have an external parallel zip drive so it can't really compare with internal SCSI drives, but I will say that IOM products are somewhat finicky. I also believe that 10 (100 meg) zip diskettes run about $144. According to the research I did, Imation's super diskettes hold more data (120 Megs)and cost less--$99 for 10.

So I can't agree with the IOM posting that CPQ is hurting the consumer. Seems like they are lessoning costs to the computer buyer. I think maybe you are reading "sour grapes" on the IOM board. But that's just MHO.

I really would have to know more about Superdisk technology to say whether or not it is an inferior product to IOM zip drives.
