Why are their chips so valuable and can they simply be replaced by a cheaper clone thereby killing their market? If you take a look at their products page (http://www.broadcom.com/), it looks like they have the lead due to offering a complete solution stack including set-top and cable modem reference designs. Here's a couple more links which may provide more insight to BRCM's value: moneycentral.msn.com moneycentral.msn.com fnews.yahoo.com I figure they can be duplicated, but so far, they are in the lead. -Thom
