Current accounting requirements call for two different EPS numbers.

Diluted and undiluted. Sometimes it's counted and sometimes it's not.

But does it matter? Does AMZN have any earnings yet?

The worth of something is only what someone is willing to pay for it. When many people are looking for something and there is a limited supply of the item, the value can be very high<g>.

I don't think it could be treasury stock. Treasury stock is stock that the company buys on the market and can either retire or use to pay various company expenses (which could be this dividend). But the point I'm trying to make is that there's only 180,000 in the float. To pay for a 3:1 stock dividend there just not enough shares out there to pay for it all. I'm speculating here--- that's why they issued the restricted stock. When all this restricted stock becomes unrestricted, we'll have to wait for the Jan 8th letter to see all the stipulations, the market will take into account this dilution and the price will decline.
