Kind of like giving away the handle part of the razor to get customers for blades. Exactly right!

However, this is NOT the solution to slow growth for a $50 Billion revenue company. HP needs to find some more BIG markets like the Laserjet which fueled their growth in the late 80's and early 90's. PC's is one in which they have gained a lot of market share but have not made much money yet. Dave Packard would turn over in his grave if he knew how little profit is made on HP's $9B PC business. I know because I was there when he cancelled a product priced for "future" profitability based on the old Boston Consulting Group learning curve theory (subsequently discredited).
