Based on my understanding of the situation at Intel,
Craig Barrett was the real shining light of Intel the last few years.

To say that he is coming out of Andrew Grove's shadow is a bit much.

Andy was a good CEO, but the real "execution" manager of Intel's success was Barrett. It has been mentionned that one (if not the most) biggest strenghts of Intel is its:

MANUFACTURING !!!

Cookie cutter fabs, perfectly matched, down to the bolts, with seamless (almost) product transitions.

Barrett was responsible for this, as well as being a better people person than Mr Grove.

They made a hell of a team. But, Barrett has no shadow to step out of.

Take care
All IMO
