GusO,

<< About McData. So it does ESCON (mainframe optical interconnect tech) and FC switches. How big a part of EMC's business will this be in the future? I recall IBM and EMC had to do this weird Chinese wall kind of thing before EMC could buy McData because IBM is one of its biggest customers. >>

Not sure what you are asking specifically, but I believe that the two main players in ESCON directors (and this is a large biz) are EMC and Inrange. EMC has McData doing their FC switching and Inrange is using Ancor's technology. I believe EMC is a much much bigger here player than Inrange, even though I wish it were the other way around. ;-)

<< P.S. Gadzoox has nearly 100% of the FC hub market???? Wow and killer IPO if true. Seagate and Compaq own pieces of Gadzoox, I think. >>

Ease up there killer. ;-) There are several players that I am aware of in the FC hub space-- Gadzoox, Vixel, Emulex, G2 Networks, etc... Gadzoox DOES NOT have even close to 100% of this market, imho. Gadzoox is working with 3Com and Cpq, but I also believe that Vixel is working with a division of Cpq and Vixel is also working with IBM's Netfinity Storage Line AND StorageTek. These large OEMS like CPQ and HP and IBM may use multiple vendors for their different divisions. Much is unclear right now but will be much clearer as the year rolls forward, imho, bc SANS are starting to grow like worries on a Woody Allen head.

all imho
