George, that's good!

This day *needed* all the humor it could get.
Thanks too for Greg's pun and John D's parody.

(Aside: I often wonder what James Thurber would write, if he were alive to witness internet chat groups. Unaccountably, when reading threads, passages from his
"Unicorn in the Garden" essay pop into my head .... Perhaps Ligand has something for this condition.)

But seriously, George, you must remember that transition is the most difficult time.
1999 is Ligand's make-or-break transition year, and it needs to marshall all the resources it can find to deliver this baby.

So I approve the payoff, and consider it comparable to a private placement. I'm
almost done adding up Ligand's near-term expenses ---including the brand new marketing expenses, and assuming Ontak gets approved. Let me tell you, it will be a challenge to make Ligand's funding stretch through 1999, especially since this baby is not likely to be born pre-mature, and there could be expensive complications.

As to the failed predictions, most people know that first babies are usually late, and have learned to laugh off such chatter.

Regarding name-calling, everybody knows what I think about name-calling, in all its disguises ...

Regards,
Cheryl
