Jay, I heard that typical palm pilots presently use 4 aa batteries. This is about twice the power requirement of my rough guess. I would therefore raise my estimate to $12 or $15 per unit and lower max capacity to about 2 mln per month, as it would take longer to stack a few more layers of laminate.

an observation from the Gartner Group on Palms at comdex 98
" The two booths that seemed to attract the largest crowds were those of Palm Computing and Sony. The Sony booth contained many prototypes of consumer technologies and heavily supported the multimedia theme. The Palm booth was crowded not only because of the PalmPilot's rapid growth, but because many of the attendees owned PalmPilots and wanted help in maximizing their investments. The PalmPilot seems to be taking over Apple Computer's image, with hordes of fanatically loyal users."
