The annual proxy statement contains a tidbit worth getting angry about. The compensation committee bestowed a bonus upon Floyd English of $1,005,312 for what can only be called subpar performance!! Revenues were down 1.9% from 1997, as was income from continuing operations, and this guy gets a million dollar bonus!! When it looks like a company is being run for the benefit of its founders and big shareholders to the disadvantage of regular shareholders, it is time to think about bailing out. English did not get a bonus in 1997 for bad performance, and should not have gotten one this year for the same reason.
