My day care provider's husband (who's a construction worker) asked me this morning if I knew why Andrew Johnson was impeached. I told him the short version- He pissed off the majority by firing the Secretary of War after congress had passed a law forbidding it. (Plus he was from white trash, and a lush, in fact he was so drunk for his inauguration as VP under Lincoln that he could hardly speak). Despite his faults, he was actually fighting for his right to fire a cabinet member. In fact, this law was later struck down as unconstitutional. I then pointed out that Clinton is fighting for his right to perform deviant sexual acts and lie freely about it. If Clinton wins, will perjury and witness tampering be legalized on a case by case basis?
