The National Post's Garry Marr writes that the online auctioneer's stock broke back through the $5 mark yesterday, a height it had not seen since Nov. 30 when the share price achieved a 52-week intraday high of $6. The company said it was unaware of any material developments that could account for the 15.2 per cent increase in the stock price yesterday or volume that soared to more than seven times the average three-month level. The company suggested the massive appreciation in price of U.S. e-commerce stocks may have helped push Bid.Com shares. (c) Copyright 1999 Canjex Publishing Ltd. canada-stockwatch.com
