Your idea for on line price quotes is a very good one. The procedure for determining these is suited to computerization, and submission via www would avoid the intermediary step of manually entering data, thus reducing costly errors. Any item involving fashion may not be as well suited to the www. Women usually select items like window coverings , and they are likely to want to see the actual sample itself prior to deciding about their home decorating.
Ideal items for www sale likely have certain characteristics.... low bulk, low weight, relatively high value, availability of powerful computerized distributors, fashion not most important trait, fungibility of items, tendency to overly high markups at retail, item not needed right away, etc. I'm sure others can add to this list. Now if we can only figure out what industries fit the list, then we will know which are likely to succeed on -line.
