<<Yet when he ran for re-election in 96, it was learned from his tax return that he gave $0.00 to charity that year. $ZERO!>>

In the interest of factual accuracy (I know, I know, look at the name of the thread...), it seems to me that all you learn from a tax return claiming zero charitable deductions is that zero charitable deductions are being claimed on that tax return. While there is ordinarily little reason for someone not to claim a deduction to which they're entitled, most of us do not have to be concerned about our tax returns being made public and our charitable giving being subject to public scrutiny. Personally, I don't know what the man did or did not give to charity; possibly he did not give anything at all, as you allege. But do you know whether he was ever asked about this by the press and what explanation, if any, he gave for this?
