I totally agree on a "one rate" pricing structure, but like you said, I'm not sure what influence Quicken, MS Money have on the price. I very curious on WHY they raised the price? (was it out of need for earnings or to push consumers toward the banks, something else? combination of factors?)

>>>CKFR needs to recognize the ill will created in their customer base from a hodgepodge of price points for basically the same service.

The reason why CheckFree is increasing their rates to CheckFree Direct customers is because they want us to become customers of the Banks that offer branded CheckFree services.

The banks have complained loudly and often that, by offering direct services to consumers like us, CheckFree is competing directly with its own Institutional customers (the banks).

As an investor, I can understand the reasoning and wisdom behind this move. As a customer, I'm not so thrilled. But the price of my service actually went *DOWN* since I first signed up in 1992, from 9.95 to 5.95, before it went *UP* to 12.95. I can't even remember how many times the USPS has increased first class postage during that same period.

In any case, I made up mind a month ago to go with Harry to Shwab and lose my bank altogether. This is just one more good reason to go.
