KNI will be one way Intel will differentiate Celeron with their Pentium line. Pentium line will get KNI in Feb. Celeron not until Q4/99 or Q1/00. They target different markets, so there wont be any los of sales.

If KNI is good, AMD will implement it in their .18u version of the K7. If it's a
useless waste of silicon like MMX, I'm guessing that AMD will continue to push
3DNow.

Maybe. If Intel decides to licnse KNI to AMD, AMD will still be "late to the party". Also, this will be an admission that 3DNOW was a failure and AMD is still a follower and Intel is the leader. Also, AMD will have to cough up a royalty fee. If it happens, it wont be pretty for AMD.

You make it sound like all they need to do is go to the spice rack and add another ingredient to the recipe. It ain't that simple.
