I don't care what you call it, when 3 digits role over it's just neat. So what if 2000 years havn't elapsed since some arbitrary date? 2001 means nothing. When you buy a new car and it comes with 100 miles on the odometer, does the family crowd around and cheer when it turns 100,100? And it's really not 2000 since Jesus was born either. Best evidence seems to suggest he was born in 3bce so we've actually already missed the 2000 year aniversary of that event.
