I have a general investing question--- If you write a covered call and later buy back the option to close the open transaction, do you still get to keep the proceeds from the initial sale or must you wait until expiration to get the $$$. Thanks!

Yuck. Profit taking. Maybe we'll get a late-day run. Huge volume - 7.5 million and counting. Think that guy who bought those options cashed out with a 1,000% gain? I'll bet he cleared $500K.
