Ish, Tommy has been governor for 12 years, and he may well be the most powerful governor in the country, versus the legislature. He has total veto power over the state budget. Most powerful line item veto in the country. He can write in his own numbers. He's never been overridden. He's also put through a state government reorganization to more effectively centralize power. Only setbacks he had there were his plans to eviscerate the offices of the elected state school supervisor and attorney general.

In Tommy's defense, things really haven't changed much in during his term, despite your perception. Income tax was always high. Tommy's always pushing for higher gas taxes, though. Road building is good pork.

Property taxes seem comparable to yours, rates seem to have come down a little. Peak rate on our house a few years ago was maybe 3%, but my total bill has come down about 20% since then, with a rate maybe down around 2%. Again, that's the hardest rated to compare, due to local variations.
