Seems Fidelity knows what's about to take place.

Fidelity seeks thrift charter

BOSTON, Jan 7 (Reuters) - FMR Corp., parent of mutual fund behemoth
Fidelity Investments, filed an application with federal regulators for a charter to establish a separate thrift unit, the Boston Globe and Boston Herald reported on Thursday.

The thrift would be called Fidelity Personal Trust Co., and would not
make loans but would qualify for federal deposit insurance, the Herald said. The thrift would allow Fidelity to grow its trust
business, the Globe said.

FMR was not available for immediate comment.
