I read everything you say Greg. FWIW I believe that much of what is going on with these companies is the greater fool theory in action. The alternate way of stating this is that the momentum players are playing, and the game is a zero sum game. At some point a significant number of these "fools" (remember, we're talking "greater fool" here) will look around and figure out that they are in fact the greatest of fools, and these companies will fall to earth as if gravity were just invented.

As far as I'm concerned, there is only one way to value a company: look at its operating cash flow, and see if there is a reasonable expectation for growth in OCF. Now look at AMZN, and tell me where the OCF is. Zilch. Nada. It can probably feed off of itself for awhile by selling some stock, but I personally believe that anybody paying over $.25/share for this company is crazy.

Greg,
Were you touting that internet company in your neighborhood when it went public?? If you recall, Spyglass and Netscape were the first iteration of this, Spyglass marched right up to 100 and then back to 13. I don't expect that it will be much different this time around. Right now Yahoo has the same market cap as Boeing. I must be very slow, it's a bit hard for me to see how a building full of post teens building web pages is as valuable as what Boeing does.
