McGrath Joins Unisys as Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer BLUE BELL, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 7, 1999--Unisys Corp. (UIS NYSE) said Thursday that its Board of Directors has elected Joseph W. McGrath senior vice president, Major Accounts Sales and chief marketing officer, reporting to Unisys Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Lawrence A. Weinbach. McGrath, 46, a former senior executive at Xerox Corp. [NYSE:XRX - news] and Gartner Group, will have responsibilities for strategic market planning on a global basis. He will play a key leadership role in the strategic management of the business and in helping enhance the company's position and image in the global market. McGrath will also have operational responsibility for the Unisys Major Accounts Sales organization in North America and Europe. ''Joe McGrath brings to Unisys a proven track record of developing and implementing strategic, global, marketing-led business plans.'' Weinbach said. ''His breadth of experience in general management, planning, marketing, sales and product development will contribute greatly to the Unisys strategy of an integrated global business that delivers a consistent message regarding service and product line positioning. McGrath joins Unisys from Xerox, where he most recently served as vice president and general manager of Xerox Production Color Systems. McGrath took this start-up color laser printing business to 73% market share in its first year. It is one of Xerox's fastest growing businesses. Prior to that, McGrath was the vice president of strategy and marketing for Xerox Production Systems Group. This Xerox business doubled over the last few years and now contributes significantly to Xerox profit. He is widely credited with the strategy for this system division, focusing on modular product architecture, extensive alliances, industry focus and solutions. In this position, McGrath had responsibility for strategy, technology and architecture; industry marketing; alliances; product marketing; and marketing communications. At Xerox, McGrath had also served as vice president, North America Systems Sales and vice president marketing, Integrated Systems Operations. Prior to joining Xerox, McGrath was a vice president and service director of Gartner Group, the worldwide information technology consulting firm, providing research and strategic consulting to more than 200 corporate clients including IBM, EDS, Hewlett-Packard, DEC, Compaq and Sun Microsystems. McGrath has a BA from Rutgers College. He will be based at Unisys Blue Bell headquarters.
