To gain wide spread adoption....there needs to be a lot more e-billers...a lot more.
e-Bill is free on the CheckFree Site.

>>>I was looking at a QuickBooks software box in the store the other day, and it doesn't mention Bill Pay anywhere on the box.

The problem with using CKFR with business-to-business payments is that there is no way to pass an invoice number with the current system. For ordinary consumer payments, an account number is all that is typically required for the payment to post correctly.

As someone who purchases tens of thousands of dollars worth of lab supplies every month for a small business, I can tell you that the invoice number and account number are both absolutely critical for correct posting.

Having said that, I know that CKFR is nearly finished (if they haven't already) changeing their payment processing systems to accept and pass invoice number to the payee, so that an interim service release of Quickbooks Pro 6.0 will feature a much more robust electronic bill payment option.

BTW, this is precisely the same reason why business-to-business e-billing isn't ready either, IIRC. Besides, CheckFree's strength is in its ability to leverage an exisiting *consumer* base. If their existing base had been business users, I'm sure they would have rolled out business e-bill ahead of consumer e-bill.
