I'm wondering if the company might consider a stock split. TI in its history has had very few stock splits; before 1995, the last one was 1987.

The last two might be indicative. On June 15, 1995, the company announced a 2:1 split for shareholders on July 7, 1995. On June 15th, the closing price was 32-5/16 and the closing price on the record date was 35-15/16. On September 18, 1997, the company announced another 2:1 stock split for shareholders of record on October 24th. On September 18th, the closing price was 66-1/16 and on the record date it had dropped to 55-15/16.

There are plenty of authorized shares to have a split. According to the 3rd Quarter report, 1.2 billion $1.00 par common shares are authorized, and 392,000 shares are issued, with about 2 million shares in treasury.

Charlie will the ride be because TI owns MU stock or is the answer more complicated.
