rudedog.... I'm not too familiar with spin-offs. Would the following scenario make sense??? El The spinoff of AltaVista is coming. . . by: longjohnholder 48486 of 48491 Will be announced with earnings in late January. A portion of AltaVista will be offered to the general public in an IPO (sometime in late spring or early summer) in order to establish a fair market value for the stock. The remaining portion of AltaVista will be spun off to CPQ shareholders by the end of this year. Hang on! It will be a great ride. ljh
