Jim,

Thank you for the clarification. "Every word of the Bible is absolute truth and valuable for us."
I do see them being used out of context at times as you've mentioned.
A favorite expression I'm hearing lately outside of the threads is, "Well that's your interpretation," made in reference to John 14:6 Jesus being the only way. Some things are so black and white and so many want to make them psychedelic.
Simplicity in Christ again. Ain't it great!
God's blessings.
John

Do you want to compartmentalize scripture? This is all one story.

Why did Paul say this?

Romans 6:
1 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase?
2 By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
3 Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.

or this?

1 Cor. 1:
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul?
14 I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,
15 so no one can say that you were baptized into my name.

And take his meaning right here too James, Paul was thankful he did not baptize many not because baptism was a work but because there were those whom were saying " I was baptized by Paul therefore I am of Paul....no no , rather Paul is saying they were NOT baptized in HIS name but CHRIST'S name.

that just concerning baptism, and here are some other things Paul said about and to the saints:

11 But now I am writing you that you must not associate with anyone who calls himself a brother but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or a slanderer, a drunkard or a swindler. With such a man do not even eat.

Is that a "work"? why would God have Paul write such?

15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them....

19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

honor?? that is a "work"" is it not?

19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing. Keeping God's commands is what counts.

huh? Paul said this??

I could go on all day, but you get the message.

A dead faith is no faith at all.

Ask Naaman... ask Abraham..... ask Lydia..... ask a Roman jailer....

God Bless
