Ramin-
>>>>I am interested to hear from you: "non-engineers" and "non-SGI-employees", if you are willing/able to pay $6-7K for your PC?<<<<

At first I thought I would consider buying one when they were available, but the price seems to be creeping up. As an older retired person I do not have too many uses for one. It would be a case of buying a Lincoln Town Car to drive 200 feet to the mail box to pick up the mail. I am planning on buying a new computer later this year, but it will be in the $2000-$3000 class including a monitor. I could afford to buy an SGI, and would if I had a use for it; but I just hate to throw money away, it doesn't come that easy.

Ramin,

I guess you call a system with graphics built-in that's on par with Integraph's Wildcat or HP fx/6 cards (which cost $8000+ each), with built-in analog and digital video and audio capability and with built-in Ethernet card -- a bare bones system. Yup, bare-bones all right. Something you could buy at Price Club for 800 bucks.
