PA, absoultely. I have no problem with him not naming his source.I guess my question was why this analyst used the singular form of the word "source" and why the piece didn't pull anything else out regarding verification.

I'm interpreting "Soundview confirmed the contents of the report" as the reporter letting readers know that he verified that "a report obtained by Reuters" was in fact the Soundview report and not that Soundview went out and confirm that everything their "very reliable source" said was in fact true in the report they released.
