I'll try ...

Lets suppose that Steve is going to throw a quick pass to Jerry, a pass where he throws to a certain area of the field expecting that Jerry will make it there at exactly the right time.

This means that Steve's and Jerry's internal clock must be running at the same frequency and be in phase. If Jerry's clock is ahead of Steve's, the ball goes behind him, and vice versa.

So if Steve's and Jerry's adrenalin levels are different on a given play, their internal clocks may be out of phase. So in the huddle, they have to adjust adrenalin levels by encouraging or calming each other.

In a sense this rambus patent adjusts the adrenalin levels of the chips to keep them in phase.

The faster that Jerry has to run means he has less margin for error and requires a more accurate level adjustment. Because rambus is running so much faster than previous chips, a more accurate mechanism for adjusting the timing is needed.
