CTI's Subsidiary, Thermal Medical Imaging, Appoints New President

January 8, 1999 09:00 AM
OGDEN, Utah, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Computerized Thermal Imaging, Inc. COII (CTI), a leader in the development of medical thermal imaging systems, announced today that the board of directors of its subsidiary, Thermal Medical Imaging, Inc., (TMI) appointed David A. Packer as the president of the Company. Packer replaces Kenneth Dodd who recently resigned his posts as president and board member for personal reasons. The board indicated that this change is effective immediately in order to ensure continuity in company operations. Packer remains president of CTI which owns an 80% interest in TMI.
"CTI and TMI have worked closely on the clinical trials of our breast cancer technology and we believe this change will enable even closer coordination as we focus on completing the clinical trials," stated Packer.

TMI uses CTI's technology to evaluate breast tissue suspected of being cancerous. In the on-going clinical trial, the results of the thermal images will be compared with participant's biopsy results to gauge the effectiveness of the new system. The intent of the new device is to be an adjunct to mammography and be used to more accurately detect breast cancer while reducing the number of benign biopsies. Preliminary testing of the system was very encouraging. Results indicate that the system may potentially decrease the number of benign biopsies performed by up to 38 percent.

Computerized Thermal Imaging, Inc. develops and deploys thermal imaging and associated technologies for use in the enhancement of medical screening, diagnosis and patient management. More information about CTI can be found on the Internet at www.cti-net.com or by calling CTI Public Affairs at (801) 776-4700.
