Cisco is a Gorilla, LU is a King. Big difference! The boys at Motley Fool use "rulemaker" to show the difference. Cisco makes the rules in networking, LU follows them. In networking, LU is a "chimp". That is why I got out of LU and put the bucks from it in Cisco.

A different perspective is that Lucent has made greater inroads into the datacomm space than Cisco has into the telcomm area.

I know the MM's say that CSCO and LU compete, but do they really. From being in the computer industry, everywhere I go I see CSCO equipment, never seen LU equipment, I always see LU consultants. To me it looks like the companies do different things. I've never seen a LU router, if there is one I guess that just means that all the companies we do work for have standardized on CSCO.
