Miami Computer Supply Corporation Successfully Launches J.D. Edwards Software Modules

Rapid Software Deployment Enables MCSC's Aggressive Integration Strategy

DAYTON, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Miami Computer Supply Corporation (Nasdaq: MCSC), a leading supplier of computer supplies and audio-visual presentation products headquartered in Dayton, Ohio, announced today its successful Phase I implementation of J.D. Edwards & Company (Nasdaq: JDEC) WorldSoftware enterprise resource planning software.

Utilizing the services of Whittman-Hart, Inc. (Nasdaq: WHIT), a leading provider of information technology services to middle-market companies, MCSC was able to successfully reduce the project's estimated timeline by 61 percent -- from eighteen months to seven months.

"A project of this magnitude is successful only if the company is one hundred and fifty percent committed to its execution," said Whittman-Hart's Chief Executive Officer Robert Bernard. "We achieved this rapid implementation milestone because Miami Computer Supply had a sound strategic vision, documented processes and a strong commitment to the launch date from the project's start. It is no surprise that MCSC is a leader in its industry."

"Once again our people rose to the challenge to accomplish what others might consider the impossible-the execution of an eighteen month project in seven months. The passion and dedication of our team together with the expertise of Whittman-Hart was the key to the successful implementation. Whittman-Hart and all MCSC associates worked as an integrated and highly motivated team to accomplish the task in record time. The J.D. Edwards software upgrade from our current AS/400 based VAI software provides MCSC with a more robust platform from which to operate," said Michael E. Peppel, President and Chief Executive Officer, Miami Computer Supply Corporation.

MCSC's sales, distribution and financial processes throughout the organization will be tied together using J.D. Edward's WorldSoftware system. Whittman-Hart has developed documentation materials and job aids for MCSC's employees and, with MCSC's information systems department, Whittman-Hart has launched an ongoing testing program to assure quality, as data from MCSC's existing systems is converted to the J.D. Edwards software.
