Hello Carl. To answer your questions:

1) I'd agree more with Merrill on this one for 1999 but I don't have figures handy. That MU figure seems fairly low for 99, sounds more like a 98 number actually. It is reasonable to expect a rebound of capex in 99 but beyond that I expect subdued growth.

2) Toshiba announced today that they will be mass-producing a 30mm2 64meg at 0.18 micron from the end of this year. By that stage, other makers should have their chip sizes down to to 50mm2 which is probably what MU will be aiming for at 0.21micron.

3) MU's phase shift technology choice is a big question mark at this stage and I do not know how successful it will be compared to other chip makers efforts to shrink by using higher NA stepper/scanners. We have to wait and see.
