Len,

What else can I do? Make new nets without those indices?

Actually once its set up, it's not too bad. The only problem is the time it takes to download. But I have the entire list of stocks on a list file, so I just load it and walk away for a while, or look at websites while I'm waiting. Importing and exporting to and from WOW only takes about three minutes. An indicator file takes about 10 seconds for each one.

Len,
Here's and idea that wouldn't be too hard to do: assuming that we can consistently download stock .csv file from somewhere...

Set up your indexes using Excel, and Paste Link the individual stock files into your first Excel worksheet. This way, when you open the Excel file each day, it will automatically update the stock files from the latest version of the individual .csv files.

Then, insert a new worksheet into your Excel file, and create a formula on this page that calculate the index weighted value using whatever type weighting you think is necessary. Also, make it reference the date from the previous page, and make appropriate columns to match the .csv file that we download for Neurostock normally.

Then, save your worksheet as an Excel file first, and then Save just the index page as a .csv file, into your Neurostock folder.

After this is set up, all you have to do is open the main file each day after downloading the stock files, and Excel will automatically load the new info. Creating a macro to do the .csv Save operation would make this easier also.

I've done this (except for the macro, which I just thought of) for those Rate of Change calculations we talked about a few days ago - and its worked pretty well.

The only hassle to this is just having to open the file and save it to the .csv file. Anyway, its just a thought - since I don't have any other means of doing it at this time such as that WOW program Jay's using, its worked for me.

All, I don't know if anyone's interested in the blow by blow here but I know a lot of people here use this data. I sent the following reply to MS Investor.

>Staci,
Thanks very much for your help and reply. I'm glad you were able to find the problem. I noticed that there is data for the indicies for 1/6/99, but that there is not yet data for 12/31/98, 1/4/99, and 1/5/99. I know you are still working on this and getting everything straightened out, I just wanted to be sure that you were aware that those days are missing data. I was unsure whether resumption of the index on 1/6/99 and on might be considered to have solved and completed the problem without adding the data for the missing dates.

Once again, thanks for your help.

Bob
