"It turns out todays Dream Machine is a 450 MHz CPU for less than $100 in a $100 mobo with 128 MB RAM. Get it while the gettin's good and wait to see what surprises come our way next year."

ZP, your whole post is very well said. You are 100% correct, IMHO. Only fitting that the founder of the "Dream Machine" thread made this pronouncement.

Near-to-cutting edge, largely debugged, more than ample hardware technology is so dirt cheap right this moment, and hardware standards currently change so fast, that I would almost NEVER advise a client or friend to do more than this. Heck, with the BH6/300a combo, the parts in my "bargain" post below, a fast IDE HDD, and a few other extras like case/keyboard/mouse, one can now have what would fittingly be called a "Dream Machine" for all but specialty users for well under $1,000. Truly remarkable.
