BATON ROUGE, La.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 8, 1998--Internet Media Corporation (OTC BB: USRF - news; pronounced you surf) announced today that it expects to launch its low-cost Wireless Internet service no later than March 1999 in Casper, Wyo. Internet Media has reached an agreement in principle with an existing ISP in that market, which will purchase the infrastructure from Internet Media for a wireless system to serve the Casper area. The system is to be operated under a license from Internet Media, under which Internet Media is to share in system revenue. Internet Media's management expects to execute the definitive agreement within two weeks. The Wireless Internet system, when implemented in Casper, will provide business customers high-speed wireless Internet access at burstable T1 equivalent speeds (1.54 Mbs) for $699 per month, about 40% below the prevailing market price in Casper for the popular T1 corporate line. The price will include all related charges. ''Our breakthrough technology allows us to offer high-speed Internet access at breakthrough pricing,'' said Internet Media President David Loflin. ''Until now, most small business customers in the Casper area have been priced out of the market for T1 speed and capacity; we believe that these customers will be able to incorporate the cost of T1 speed into their operating budgets, and will be able to obtain access from our affiliate ISP in Casper, instead of from other hard-wire based ISPs or the telephone company.'' ''Our Wireless Internet system and its speed also make it easier to access search engines, browsers and Web destinations such as Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT - news), Netscape Communications (Nasdaq: NSCP - news), Yahoo (Nasdaq: YHOO - news), Excite (Nasdaq: XCIT - news), Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN - news), eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY - news), Lycos (Nasdaq: LCOS - news) and Earthlink Network (ELNK),'' Mr. Loflin added. In addition, the Wireless Internet system, when implemented in Casper, will allow high-speed wireless ISDN-line equivalent speed (124 kbs) to be offered to business and residential Internet users in Casper at $49.95 per month, over 50% below the current market price for similar access in Casper. Internet Media's technology also provides several compelling advantages over existing Internet service. It is completely non-reliant on a hard-wire or cellular telephone system, requires no FCC license, and provides constant Internet access from any computer -- stationary or mobile -- within the company's transmission area. The technology employs a two-way modem, developed by Internet Media. USRF is currently in negotiations with several other independent ISPs to roll out its low-cost, high-speed Wireless Internet access service.
