NEWS FLASH C.N.B.C. 9am. ------- 64 dram shortage world wide! could this be from manu. ramping up for 128 rmbs dram? wishful thinking or a fact. if you had 10 production lines producing 64's and you changed over 4 lines to 128's you would cut your supply of 64's. it would show up as shortage and higher prices for 64's. that is what has happened. capt rocky ps. this makes sense. after an over supply for years the capacity would have to be cut to produce a shortage,or the demand would have to increase dramaticly.

Intel, Dell, Others To Develop New Input/Output Pdt

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Intel Corp. (INTC), Dell Computer Corp. (DELL), Hitachi Ltd.
(HIT), Siemens AG and Sun Microsystems Inc. (SUNW) will form a Next Generation Input/Output
Industry Group to develop and implement a new Input/Ouput architecture.

In a press release Thursday, Intel said the NGIO architecture will provide direct, expandable interface
between main memory and controller devices such as network communication storage and processing
systems.

The company said contributions to the core specification will be licensed on a "mutual royalty-free
basis."

The companies will base the new product on architecture under development for two years by a group
of companies, led by Intel, and anticipate the product will be available in 2000.
