Hello Board, got back into AOL recently and figure I'll tell you why.

Brand recognition and loyalty...

We (family) are users of AOL. Still a few complaints, but better than a year plus ago when you could not get on.

My teen daughter is a big online user and the number of kids on line is amazing. Seems like everyone on middle school. There is not a time when she can't get on and find multiple kids on line (makes it a bit tough on the homework). TV and other distractions are a thing of the past as online has taken over. When these kids grow up, what ALL of them and their kids be doing? On-line. Its cool....

I suggested to her that we drop AOL for another service provider. She had a fit. But, But, but...All my friends, buddy lists, chat rooms, other stuff...

Even if features are available elsewhere this kid, and may others think AOL is great and don't want to consider changing to something else. This sould only grow.

Now add advertising and e-commerce, shake well and voila...up we go.

Regards,
Brew

* * * AOL 99: KING OR PAUPER? POLL update; 1/31/99 179; 1/1/00 339 * * *

No major changes in AOL Poll

With 11 additions to the poll, the average estimates for AOL are holding at 179 for Jan. 31, 1999 and 339 for Jan. 1, 2000.

The new guesses range from Hector Rubert and Joana Tides' 185 for the end of this month. On the flip side, dj8000 is spinning a record low guess of 70 for AOL. That's 70 bucks for a share, not 70 rpms, you folks who still own vinyl records.

DJ's end-of-year forecast of AOL at 50 nearly matches that of the irrepressible Art Stone, who pegs the stock at 37 as of New Year's day.

In addition, Rick Berry of J.P. Turner & Co. (Atlanta) sees dark clouds ahead for AOL. Berry has an April 1 forecast of $102.

Back to this thread, Joana and Hector aren't alone in their bullish stampede. KG4 projects 400 by 1/1/00 and 900 by New Year's 2001.

Joana leaves her enthusiasm for AOL in the closet. NOT!

AOL's huge & now a
dominant Company, so the way they play their game must change to fit their size. They need to grow, and very fast; they need to establish a position now before someone else takes it, they need to Gobble It Up Like Pac Man.

AOL on January 31, 1998 - $ 185.00 a share (It'll hit 300+ in '98)
(AOL will give One 3-for-1 split to set off a '98 Summer Tech Rally)
(market prices now, not split adjusted or allowing for the split-)
AOL on January 1, Y2K (oops I mean 2000) - $ 48.00 a share
AOL on January 31, 2000 - $225.00 a share and on the rise!

Her Y2K fears aren't the first expressed by pollees on this thread, and won't be the last, unfortunately.

As for an AOL split, Phillip A. Strong has this vision by way of one of those newsletters.

FROM OPTION INVESTOR NEWSLETTER..... AOL is a strong split candidate despite the fact that they just split in November. Currently they have 1.8 blnshares authorized. That's enough for a 3:1 split. Earnings, as reported by Motley fool and other sources, are on January 27th. Look for the split announcement then. Usually, these dates are accurate, however, we've been unable to confirm this date with AOL's investor relations. Rumors have started circulating that
AOL might announce a split as soon as next week (remember, most
rumors are false but they can move stock prices). We still think
that odds of a split being announced in the next few weeks are
strong.

As Phillip notes, this is all taken with a grain of salt. Now if only I had a penny for every time someone said "AOL will never make it" since way back when...

Disclaimer:

New and updated psychic predictions by bulls, bears and sideline spectators are more than welcome by BomboochaBoy, who has nothing better to do at this early hour but collect numbers and add them up. BomboochaBoy claims zero actual value is the result of the poll.

This is merely a measure of sentiment. There is no right and wrong, no good guys/gals, no bad guys/gals.

IT IS JUST FOR FUN, ENTERTAINMENT FOR MERE MORTALS AND AMATEURS. ;-)

<<. I won't even bother to respond with statistics that prove you wrong because you obviously are speaking out of your a-s!>>>

Here is the only stat that counts. Rice fumbled and the Packers should have won the game. The Vikings will kill either SF or Atl. The west = Less. Its a weak division.

<<You have succeeded in alienating a whole bunch of folks>>

Oh no. The 49ers are old and are going down!
