Charles,

Almost the entire DEC VMS team came over to MSFT, Some 18 of them.

They were "corn-fed" on MSFT options, and VMS code and a Windows GUI taken from Xerox, and voila'... Window NT.

The similarities seem to exist at the Kernel level and many commands between NT and VMS are quite similar.

It's not who stole what from whom, but who can market it better than the other guy, and THEN, how can they bargain their way out of a lawsuit, or settle out of court.

Might makes right in the software industry. Just ask the "Empire".

Not making a statement specific to AVNT as I don't know the story. But just providing you an example of how a company, MSFT, was able to steal technology, improve it, and then create a near monopoly out of it.

MSFT has always been more of a marketing company than a credible programming operation.

Regards,

Ron
