Well since it happens to me all the time I know.

Say stock is 0.40 x 0.45, you put in an order for 10K at 0.45. Few minutes later, with no trading ask goes to 0.46.

Change your order to 0.46 and a few minutes later, no trades and ask is 0.50. At this point you're pissed and cancel the order and take the stock off your screen.
