Michael: Thanks for the great article. If you look back on the CDMA Web Page, Datacom projects that CDMA users will grow to 165 million by 2003.

Just a thought, I wonder how all those 3G GSM (WCDMA) users will be counted.

Michael: The DRC report is now nearly a year old and so far has proved widely inaccurate. The link to the IGI site didn't really lead me to believe that the report is new version and I only found a reference to the old report.

If Ira Brodsky still haunts SI I would like to ask him his views about the fact the GSM subs have actually increased and not slowed down in Europe. Another fact is the growth of GSM in China, not only the largest potential market of any country in Asia, but the world too.

I am very suspicious about Ira Brodsky's stance, as he has been involved in promoting CDMA. Is he Qualcomm's Bill Frezza? Certainly not an independent.

A summary of this report has been on the CDG site for many a month now.

My views, I hate hype as much as you guys do. If we didn't we would all be posting on Yahoo! (Oops, I did yesterday!).

PS I am hearing a rumor that Motorola has put a bid in for Alcatel. Of course rumors abound about nearly every company, just wanted to know if someone else had heard this one. God forbid I don't want to start rumors, but if anyone else has heard it, it is unlikely from the same source as me. Maybe it's just a case of the best form of defense is to...
