FWIW: my broker just called me to tell me that his office had just received a proposal from Dell Computer for a Bloomberg terminal and computer hub for their local office. Computer hub manufacturer: 3Com - from their 3Com plant in Ireland....

Yes, HellQat: The display requires 11-12 volts. Not sure about other components; there are drives, motors, and I would guess, small servo mechanisms.

HellQAt, I agree with your understanding of how the 1mm building blocks are cut to size, stacked and electrically connected. The process is obviously easier than rolling all these layers in canisters and sealing liquid electrolyte inside, including a pressure relief system.

The last we heard, Sony and the others were at about 50% yield with their canisters. With fewer components and a simpler process, its easier to see why a much higher yield can be attained, together with substantially reduced manufacturing cost.
