GIC...anybody follow GIC? If so what is happening? Any idea on earnings? At some point I thought I heard of a buyout of GIC. Would appreciate any news.

Thanks

BANYAN SOARS 35.7%
ON SPIN-OFF SPECULATION

Banyan Systems Inc. jumped 35.7% yesterday on speculation that it would spin-off its Switchboard Inc. Internet subsidiary in an initial public offering as early as the first quarter, market sources said. Switchboard is the number one white and yellow pages directory service on the internet, according to Media Matrix, a service that measures internet traffic. Closest competitor to the unit is Infospace.com Inc., a provider of internet directories, classified ads, news, and other services to on-line consumers. Infospace.com went public Dec. 15 at 15 and hit a high of 52 on Dec. 28. The stock closed at 38 1/2 yesterday. Officials of Westborough-based Banyan didn't immediately return phone calls for comment. In Nasdaq trading, Banyan closed up 3 3/4 at 14 1/4, on volume of 4.4 million shares compared to average daily volume of 780,700. (Dow Jones)
