Stitch,

I had just read the Forbes article over on the PC thread when you copied it. I was going to do the same and ask the thread if this means that this recovery in drive stocks is for real. I still have some reservations that this is an inventory pipeline recovery and Lawrence thinks it has some seasonal factors influencing it. However, it is news like this that might indicate that we are indeed aboard the next wave of PC related buying. Hope it carries on just long enough to pass the baton to all the up and coming applications.<g> Of course any time you use the word hope and investing in the same breath you are asking for trouble.

Stitch;

I guessed that too. However, the important thing to remember is that with expanded usage comes and expanding future. Also, that there may be a very important place for voice recognition software in these non traditional apps. Most people are not going to take the trouble to learn how to operate complicated electronic devices. I still can't do many of the apps. on my VCR. I'm too lazy. Manufacturers are beginning to turn around a imagine, What can be done with storage memory? As an ID designer I know, this is where it begins. That's great news for long term investors like ourselves. However, your point is well taken. There is a long process between imagining and final product.

With regard to Fujitsu. All I can say, is that my experience both here and in Japan boils down to this. Japanese manufacturers are involved in everything. We know them by their products here and think of them that way. However, I've seen Japanese manufacturers involved in surprising businesses. For instance, Toyo makes tires but they also make view cameras and good ones too. They also make paints and printing inks and have a color system very similar to our Pantone system. I'm sure I haven't begun to cover it. The point is, these manufacturers are huge conglomerates and will make anything if they see a profit.

Please review DJBEINO'S POST # 6602 on the other thread. If fits right in with our discussion.

Here's another story on Dragon. I wonder if this will be a fast start IPO, or if we might have a chance to get a decent pprice on the open. The last IPO I wanted to buy into was Broadcast.com and it went up too much the first day for me to buy. Of course, now it's up about $150 from that point. Will Dragon be able to generate the same excitement, or will they be seen as a soon to be commodity item?
