Skeeter, you really are green when it comes to investing. Industry fundamentals don't fluctuate like stocks. They are not subject to the same whims, complaints, hype, rumours and overall ignorance that surround many people who buy and sell stocks. The time cycle is lengthened considerably and strategic directions must be thought out years ahead of their actual implementation. People within the industry are vindicated by decisions made years earlier, not a few months or even days earlier.

So too are stock pickers who are aware of this dichotomy. It was clear back then that major cutbacks in capex was going to hamstring Korean producers from remaining competitive longer term. Guess what, it turned out to be true. The Koreans put off the day of reckoning for a few months, but it didn't last. In hindsight, you'd be alot wealthier now if you had bought MU then.

Investing longer term is a far more profitable way to invest, there are numerous studies bearing this out. I think everyone should read the article I posted and make their own minds as to whether or not it was wrong.
