Glenn, my totally scientific and proven methods of stock market analysis (Yea, right!) show that now is the time to sell or short Amazon. This is only the second such opportunity in the past 18 months and probably won't last that long. Is this risky? You're damn straight it's risky. The TA shows the MOST over-bought condition ever seen in this stock. This exceeds the point last July before it sold off. Will the upward trend in Amazon continue once the sell-off has occured? Probably yes. The tremendous growth of e-commerce is still very much intact and the message about margins and competition will not become very much of a concern for at least several months. The rule here is to short it carefully and don't be fooled into thinking that the stock won't again surprise to the upside - it likely will. We have ridden a great SEASONAL growth wave that helped spur feverish speculation and short covering. That will, without a doubt, IMO, be followed by flat sales and a drop in enthusiasm that won't resurge completely until possibly next fall. It won't be all down but there won't be much upside from here. Ride this tiger with care.
