Highlights are very difficult in the context of my discussion with you. Islam is wholistic. It is in my heart, and yours believe it or not. It is confirmed and authorized in the Quran as a bridge from my heart to guide me in my life in this world. And much much more.

I will try to touch on some of the points you brought up.

<<Jihad is fundamental to the creed.>>

Yes it is and this is a good example of the point I am hoping to make with you. There is a geo-political media engrandized view of what Islam is. Unfortunately that is a real and dominant perception that I have to live with but it is not Islam in the definition of Islam as Gods religion. Islam the religion of God is explained in the Quran and in no way reflects the mass media version.

Jihad in the media represents a declaration by one of the Maniacs who has tyrannically taken over a portion of the world (often supported by western resources, trying to maintain instability in the Middle East for obvious reasons). This declaration is supported by terrorist acts on innocent citizens to publicize the "jihad." The tyrannical dictator in no way represents the religion and is hated and feared by the people they rule over, as any Islamic scholar in the free world or imprisoned in the middle east would happily point out.

Jihad in the religion is simply the requirement to struggle for good. It has several levels. If someone is committing an injustice a Muslim is required to struggle against the injustice. They can physically resist the injustice if they are able. If they are not physically able to resist the injustice they can speak against it. If they cannot speak against it they should in conscience not support it. In the case where you individually are wronged you can do any or all of these things but when the perpetrator stops committing the wrong against you, as in stealing from you, you are required to stop your action against them. If you can see your self able to live without without the thing stolen from you you can also let it go and do nothing in retaliation. This is considered concoring your self or your own desires for the things of the world. When you concor the objects of your own desires in this way you have achieved the highest level of jihad.

In a jihad where you or your army is fighting for justice you are forbidden to have a strategy of targeting innocent creatures to hurt your enemy. That includes plants and animals as well as humans. Obviously the actions of Saddam Hussein and others violate what is permitted in the religion on all counts. He burned and dumped polluting oil in the gulf specifically to destroy the sea environment to make his enemies suffer. Torture is forbidden. Terrorist bombings are forbidden etc. etc. etc. This is in fact the Islam (geo-political definition) seen and known by us all. It is not Islam the religion. It is not representative of the 1 billion people who are practicing the religion.

This isn't my opinion or interpretation. This is the scripture of Islam well known by Muslims and of course violated by corrupt polititions and creepy dictators.

<<When was the last time you heard of sexual harrassment of an Islamic
women at work, or on the street? Exactly...an islamic woman knows her place.>>

Well, my wife is a Phd in engineering and I know many Islamic women involved with corporate America. I can testify that none of us males get away with didly squat because the women have a very active and involved sisterhood. We or anyone violating their rights and responsibilities is in big big doo doo. My wife covers her head and body because she chooses who looks, fantasizes, or has opportunities to enjoy what is under that covering. I assure you, If she chose to go without her scarf, I would not say a word. I know that's not what the Muslim hating masses tell you. I'm oppressing her, right. You wouldn't believe the laughs they have over that.

<<When was the last time you saw an Islamic woman's sexuality exploited to sell chewing gum and tooth paste? The black veils wouldn't go over well with my demographic!>>

Not representative. An extremely small percentage of Islamic women ware black veils. I am all for them though. Saudis mostly.

<<Oh brees, that's just funny...do ya think the Women inIraq could ask the boys to please stop playing with fire??!! LOL! They mind real good!>>

The women in Iraq and children and old people are dying because they don't belong to Saddams regime, the US is denying them food and basic medical supplies by blockading the import of such and no one cares. This is not Islam. Currently over 5000 children in Iraq under the age of 5 die each month of starvation or treatable minor ailements.

<<Women in Islam have rights and responsibilities and are, based on the religion (cultures vary), entirely equal to men. That's not true.>>

I read the Quran. The Quran says it is true. The Quran is the religion. Where are you getting your information that it is not true. A while ago you were saying women are different and unequal (better) than men. I agree with the idea of diffences. The Quran, Gods word, confirms the equality. I'm convinced of equality, you're still not allowing it. Unequal treatment and oppression by corrupt men of the earth does not change the religion. The religion is Gods, the behavior is people. Not the same thing. The Quran explains both.

<<You should not feel that you must denounce an entire idea simply because it's artisticlly flawed...acceptance is humility>>

In most man made things I am very open to trial, error, my own flawed involvement and mistakes, modification etc. The Islamic religion is perfectly Gods word in the original text, down to the articulation of each syllable as it was delivered to Mohammad a messenger of God, 1400 years ago. A passage in the Quran proclaims its protection by God as the only book that will never be corrupted by man until judgement day. If one tiny speck of the thing is not perfect and true on January 8, 1999; the whole thing fails that test and I would like to be the first to admit it. So far I've not found a point of failure.

<<And I don't know why you refuse to see your connection to those who would use your precious, sacred teaching to destroy individuals...>>
I do, it is the geo-political inference that results in your claim that they and I are one and the same. I hate them for it. I am frustrated by the limitations of the mass media to clarify the differences. I have been the victim of terrorism and hate crimes against Muslims in the US because of it. And, I suffer from the misunderstanding and false identity granted my religion, my God, me, the brothers and sisters of my faith by people like you, every day of my life.
