I believe the $1000 & below pc will continue to take off. I have several friends and relatives who are now purchasing pc's to get email etc. They have waited and shopped for over three years and would not and could not afford to spend over $1000. for pc. Let's face it, $1000. is a lot of money to most people and they do not put that kind of money into a tv in most homes. These people are not going into investments on line. They are your basic household who have mutual funds or pensions. There's no interest in being on the net, although that may grow as they become more familiar with it. Basically, they want to be able write and communicate to their children and friends.....

I am looking for a sub $1000 now to replace my compaq presario of three years ago. I don't need a lot of extras to handle si. and email or research the net... The kids (in their 30's)want my set so they can get email at home etc. However, they are not going out to spend money on a system. He has a small one for his word processing now but not large enough to handle on line stuff. Just my opinion here but there is a large market out there for cheap computers...
