The problem with this market is that it is nuts to be in it, and yet you can't afford to sit on the sidelines either.

I spent much of last year trying to time the market, with some success (+200%), but I made many mistakes as well. The monday after Clinton was impeached, I was 100% in cash and thought the market would crash. Instead the NASDAQ went up 50 points. I think I've finally decided the best approach for me is to leave 50% invested and get in and out with the other 50% when I think the timing is right. I won't miss the runups (like the last 2 weeks), and I'll have a pile of cash to put in when I find a bottom.
